Main indication:
Sex chromosomes abnormalities and Gender ambiguity.
Test usage:
Analysis by Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) allows for the most rapid detection of the most common chromosome disorders. Using DNA probes to enumerate X and Y chromosomes and detect the presence of SRY (male sex determining gene). This is especially helpful with gender identification in those patients with ambiguous genitalia.
